A Turning Point

It was about 7:30 p.m. and I was lying in my bed when I read the news on Facebook that Charlie Kirk had been assassinated. I said "Oh No" aloud, tears filled my eyes and my heart sank. My husband joined me, and I immediately put my phone under my pillow, gulping back my tears. He asked me if I was OK, and I said yes.

It was dark in our room and I was thankful that he couldn't see my face. He was tired, and I was thankful for that too. Because as soon as he was asleep, I grabbed my phone and as I learned more, my tears began to flow. I didn't get much sleep that night. I grieved for Charlie, his widow Erika and his two small children.

In the days since, reading the hateful comments people celebrating his death, I became angry. I can't even watch the videos. Just seeing the previews in my feed turns my stomach. There are no grey areas between good and evil in our society now. It's clear to anyone with eyes to see and ears to hear.

Persecution Cometh

Charlie Kirk was a Christian martyr. He was murdered because he preached the gospel of Jesus Christ. He spoke of his love for God's Holy Word and its teachings. He said the words "Jesus Christ" on-air and in social media without fear. He spoke against the "woke" ideology that has warped the minds of so many children, teens and adults. He debated anyone and everyone with intelligence, kindness and respect. For all of that, he was gunned down and killed. Shot in the throat from which all of his words sprung.

While I'm glad people are stepping up and openly showing their solidarity with Charlie and his family, and against this heinous act, I believe the only turning point we'll see is that Charlie Kirk will be the first Christian martyr in America, with more to follow.

I'm not being negative. It's God's truth.

Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. 2 Timothy 3:12.

So, all of us, who love the Lord and follow him openly, will suffer for Him. No doubt. I suffer for Him in my own home, but that's for another contemplation.

I pray that all of us who love Jesus can, and will, be able to withstand the trials to come until He takes us home to paradise, in Jesus' Holy and Might Name. Amen.
