Losing Your Job = Learning God's Will
Share
I'd always wanted to be a director of something. Being in corporate IT for over 20 years, I felt I'd earned it or at least a chance to try. And by God's grace, I was contacted by a managed IT services firm that needed a Head of Project Management right away. So the opportunity fell into my lap, and I grabbed onto it.
I enjoyed the role and was there for about 2 years, but I was laid off because I wasn't "technical" enough for their future business needs. A classic case of "you're good, you're just not good enough."
I was crushed. I wondered "Why does losing your job feel like you've lost your soul?"
But God gave me a purpose. I started a YouTube channel to spread His Word. My first video on Youtube I could barely speak I was so sad. And for the first few videos thereafter, my topics were focused on job loss because it was so raw and real for me.
One of the verses that got me out of my depression was Matthew 16:26.
“For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”
Amen. Nothing, no job and no one is worth losing my soul. I was back in the saddle for the Lord, doing His will and my sadness over the loss of my job was gone.
In the video, I ask my viewers to think about a very important question.
